Friday, August 12, 2011
(5 6 7 12 13 14)
Where: Elochoman Slough Marina, Cathlamet, Washington
Friday, August 12, 2011
One of the oldest hobby steamboating events in the US, this meet is held at a different location each year. Cathlamet, Washington is located on the Columbia River about 35 miles upstream from Astoria, Oregon, and an equal distance from Interstate 5.
*
Many miles of steaming protected from the main shipping lanes of the Columbia River. Cathlamet is another of those Pacific Coast towns that lost their fishing and logging industries but are experiencing a renewal from tourism. Visit the Northwest Steam Society website at http://www.northweststeamsociety.org and select the "2011 meet" button from the navigation menu. Usually 30+ steamboats show up. If you live west of the Rocky Mountains this ranks right up with the B&W Sacramento Delta Meet.
